Equity and English Learner Education Specialist, Oregon Department of Education
Rudyane Rivera-Lindstrom transitioned from the classroom to the newly formed Equity Unit at the Oregon Department of Education in 2013. This unit brings together a team of 12 dedicated educators to support efforts to close the opportunity gap for students. As an Education Program Specialist, Rivera-Lindstrom focuses on equity and English learner support for districts across the state. Her previous experience includes working as a family service worker in Headstart for Denver Public Schools, a migrant education specialist for the Multnomah ESD, an ELL/Spanish/AVID teacher, and a multicultural/ELL coordinator for the Tigard/Tualatin School District. She specializes in education equity and policy, student and family intervention support, and support for culturally responsive practices, and she is a doctoral candidate at George Fox University completing her doctorate in educational leadership.
